GORILLA JOURNAL AUTHOR CAROLYN FRANKLIN SHORTLISTED FOR EDUCATIONAL WRITERS’ AWARD
We’d like to say a huge congratulations to author and illustrator Carolyn Franklin for being nominated, alongside just three other authors, for the 2011 Educational Writers’ shortlist, organised by ALCS and the Society of Authors. About the book, published by Book House, the judges remarked:“[It] looks and reads like a real journal with a great mix of informative text, sketches and photographs.”We wish her the very best of luck at the awards ceremony (with drinks at the House of Commons!) on 6th December!
Find more information about the award on the Society of Authors website here.
Taking a look through the Gorilla Journal (sister title to Lion Journal, also penned by Carolyn), it’s easy to see why she was nominated. The book is a wonderful scrapbook of incredible close-up photographs and sketches that tell the story of a girl’s trip to the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, where she comes face-to-face with a variety of wildlife. Filled with animal facts, and with an environmental message, Gorilla Journal recounts the experience of a lifetime.Buy Gorilla Journal (PB)
